How it works
Invoices are raised for the month automatically, on the Bikram Sambat calendar — a period is a BS month, not a Gregorian one borrowed and relabelled. The receipt and the running balance land on the resident's own ledger, in order.
Why
Why it is built this way
Nepali hostels bill by Nepali months. Software that quietly bills the 1st to the 31st of a foreign calendar makes the owner do the translation forever, and gets the length of the month wrong twice a year.
